With a view to the objective set by the National Council of Culture and through its National Directorate of Museums and Monuments, considering the great historical significance of the house, it was declared a National Monument in 1971
On October 10, 1973, it opened its doors to the public as a History section of the Oscar María de Rojas Museum, in 2001 it became the José Antonio Echeverría Birthplace, with a new repair that changed its theme at the request of the combatants that belonged to the Revolutionary Directory and becomes a single-issue museum where the figure of José Antonio Echeverría and his student struggle against Batista are studied and disclosed alongside a group of courageous young revolutionaries.
As of December 24, 2003, a total restoration and rehabilitation of the Museum was decided, in which cultural and structural heritage assets were intervened, restoring the house to its original state with the style of the property (floors, ceilings, carpentry, painting, ironwork and stained glass that give it its architectural beauty).
